This Apothecary-Inspired Bar is Quietly Becoming Kyoto’s New See-and-Be-Seen Hot Spot

Word is getting around about Six Senses Kyoto’s discreet Nine Tails bar located behind an unmarked, nondescript door.  Locals and tourists alike are heading to Nine Tails for their after work happy hour, pre-dinner aperitivo and night cap. The atmosphere is intimately seductive with unique design touches like the intricate yakisugi burnt cedar backdrop. Cocktails are inspired by the Japanese micro-seasons and are made with the bar’s collection of over 100 local spirits and liquors and other fixings including homemade syrups, cordials and sodas. The only spirit in the bar that’s not local is their tequila which is sourced from a Japanese couple based in Mexico.

Six Senses Kyoto’s New Wellness Afternoon Tea Changes with the Japanese Micro-Seasons

Modified every couple of weeks to incorporate ingredients that are at their peak, the tea is in alignment Eat With Six Senses’ deliciously healthy eating philosophy, gluten-free and free of refined sugars. Fermented foods beneficial for digestive health are included such as local amazake cream, instead of clotted cream, made from rice and koji (malted rice), and raisin sandwiches made with sakekasu, a fruity, paste-like ingredient that is a by-product of making sake.
